Take me to the river, drop me in the water…

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

…Oh that we could all be dropped in nice, clean water right now.  But hey, Middle Tennessee floods with some rank, muddy water and suddenly we all have to do without the clean stuff.

We are doing all we can down here at the Family Wash: paper plates, water only on request, glasses only for draught beers.  So bring your stinky, unshaven self down and have beer and pie.  The pie will make you feel better, and hey! we’re donating $1 of every pie sold to relief efforts for our friends and neighbors who were devastated by the disaster here.

You can come get that pie and some music too: this Friday, May 7th, at 9:30pm, The Family Wash is proud to present The Jack Silverman Ordeal and a Flood Relief Benefit Show.   Bring your hungry tummies, your need for beer and your open wallets, 100 percent of donations will go to the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee’s Metro Nashville Disaster Response Fund.

The Sons of Zevon Return Triumphantly!

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Hey, do you remember that time, not so long ago, that The Sons of Zevon got together to play the Family Wash and pay tribute to the music of 1970?  Well they are about to do it again, moving forward, slightly, in time, as we all do.  This Friday and Saturday (April 30 and May 1) The Sons of Zevon present 1971.

Once again: Thank you!! We can’t say it enough.

Double the pleasure

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Shepherd’s pie is love.  Shepherd’s pie is good.  But are two pies doubly good?  Ask this guy!  He ate two whole, entire Shepherd’s pies in a single sitting (I’d say in under 30 minutes but I wasn’t timing him).

He looks so happy!  Look at the empty pie tin.  That was the second one.  Wow.

I’m pretty sure his name is something like Norman Whitman, but alas, I lost the piece of paper he wrote it down on for me.  In my defense I was very overwhelmed by the magnitude of his accomplishment.   Congratulations, my friend. You deserve a brass plaque on the Family Wash Wall of Fame.  Sadly we don’t have a Wall of Fame, so instead you get your face all over the internet.
